Would You Thank and Love Someone You Can’t See?

GodWhile reading through someone’s blog,

I read that he/she was thoroughly disgusted with the Christian idea of God and God Himself.  They asked, “Why do gods always want their followers to worship and adore them?” One point that I would like to take time to answer in my blog, would be why Christians thank and praise their God.

Many Christians might just roll their eyes

at the disgruntled person’s view and respond with, ” Isn’t it obvious?”.  We need to remember that the grace of God was given to all mankind.  The unbeliever is exactly who Christians used to be…unbelievers.

We thank God because

He is our Creator and the lover of our souls.  He loved us before we ever loved Him.  He pursued us and waited for our love.  Our God speaks to us and we hear His voice.  He is not a god that can be folded up and placed in a wallet.  His promise to us is He’ll never leave us or let anyone pluck us out of His hand.  Money leaves you, homes and possessions leave us.  But our God never leaves, always loves and is a giver of all good

We’re  surely grateful to anyone who could fill all those desires!  The fact is, our God is not temporary…like the things of this life.  He is eternal and has given, given, given.  He gave us free will to not accept His love.  He gave us our life which we can do with whatever we want.  He gave us His son, Jesus, as the way to come to Him and freely accept His love or reject Him completely.

Our response as His children is

one of thanksgiving…praise.  That’s why we worship Him…..which is loving Him back.  We boast of Him openly.  We are thankful for our relationship with Him!  No one is forcing us to thank God or praise Him.  It’s a choice we make with that freewill He gives everyone.

I will praise God’s name in song and glorify Him with thanksgiving.  Psalm 69.30

And that’s just a few reasons we love, worship and praise our God.  There are so many more…….

Well said Donna! Religion and politics are tough subjects to cover, but you have done so with grace.

I think the term worship means different things to different people, and everyone; christian or not shouldn’t cast judgement on others.

As a Christian, I know the healing power of praise and worship, especially through song so I truly love that you left off with a Psalm.

    Blessings!

Donna – first of all, I think your comments/answers/responses are spot on.

In response to the blog and the problem they have with a Christian god…

If they could understand and accept what the Christian god, whose name is Jesus Christ, is offering to them and what He has done for them and the things He can do in their lives, they would not have to ask why He needs to be worshiped. Just my two cents. 🙂

Hope your neck is getting better.

I agree, Kipp. No need to ask the question once you’ve experienced the love.

Yes, the neck is getting better day by day. I’m going to therapy 2 x a week.

Your two cents is very valuable and welcome here!

To worship God is to express our love and awe of who He is. In Isaiah 66:1 God says “Heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool.” He is the Creator of the universe and everything in it, which includes little ol’ me and you. How wonderful and amazing is that!
