Friend in your group that just moved away?

Maybe she’s pregnant and trying to adjust to a new home, surroundings, church or MOPs group.  What can you do to help smooth the transition for her?

Pregnant and New in Town

Jackie was pregnant with her first baby, living away from her parents and knew no one except her husband’s sister and boyfriend in the new town.  The church she went to with her parents heard about her move from the mother as they had moved to another state away from the church too.  Church friendships can be ‘forever friendships’.  The Pastor’s wife talked with some women who knew the mother and her daughter well.  They pulled together a ‘baby shower in a box’ surprise for Jackie.  When it arrived in the mail, she was so overwhelmed she sat on the floor….nine months pregnant and bawled.  They were tears of joy, sadness because she missed the friends, and pregnancy hormones!

The Pastor’s Wife Served it UP!

Jackie sat and pulled present after present…all wrapped in beautiful designs and colorful papers.  There was handmade clothes, thoughtful purchases and items that reminded her of the women who loved her so dearly.  They may have been far away from her Texas location, but she’d never forget the loving kindness that was packed in a large box that day.  The mother was happily surprised, but expected nothing less because she knew what the people were capable of in that body of believers.  She knew how the Pastor’s wife, always so loving and giving  towards others kept loving and cherishing you even when you moved away.

Smooth the Transition for Someone!

When your friend is sitting in her new home or apartment alone with fresh memories of you, why not pack a ‘we love and miss’ box…or a ‘baby shower’ in a box?  Fill it with scrapbook memories or just baked items.  Put in the latest book you loved and want her to read and the recipe for the baked goods.  You knew her while she was with you in your group, so pull on those memories to know what to put in the box.  Wrap each item to be a special gift.  Don’t short her the luxury of opening gifts from everyone, one at a time.

Be the leader and pull it together.  You’ll never regret loving someone that way!

Did you ever get a box filled with presents?  Have you thought about someone who you can do this for?

Maybe the one you're thinking of has been gone a while, but is just now pregnant with their first. Why not make a 'box to remember' by putting in everyone's gift from your group. What a surprise!

I love the idea of "baby shower in a box". I will keep that in mind for future reference!

    Becky,
I know it made a huge difference in Jackie's life! An act of love and kindness goes far beyond the intended life.

That's such a nice idea! I always feel so bad for (pregnant women) living away from their families. I just couldn't imagine it. I live a block from my mother and my mil is right up the road. Moving as never even been an option for me. I told my mom that if we ever HAD to move, she's coming with us!

It’s an intriguing approach. I commonly see minimalist judgments on the matter but yours it\\\’s written in a pretty special way. For sure, I will revisit your site for more info. Greetings from Nottingham
