Just the Birds and Bees?
Do babies come by mail?
Or are they found in a cabbage patch? How about a stork…a really strong one for a 10 pound baby!
Bring on the Birds and the Bees!
Are you waiting until your child is older to start the ‘sex’ discussions? Age appropriate is necessary, but you’ll be talking to them sooner than later about ‘the birds and bees’. I came from a family where we were handed a booklet approved by the church and told to read it. Yes, that’s what they talked about, the birds and bees. My sister showed me the book awhile back and even the illustrations were about the birds nesting and bees buzzing. That’s what I came away with at mid school level.
Who Will Your Child Ask and Get Info From?
We didn’t have any ‘sex gurus’ in our girl’s group to talk to, so we were left to our own imaginations. Yikes! What children can imagine now by being exposed to so much at school, TV, movies and books is making your job extremely important.
I’m not just talking about the ‘mechanics of sex’, but a view of sex in a marriage relationship being a beautiful gift from God. There’s so many aspects about it, like respect. Maybe you weren’t brought up in a home that gave you a perspective from God’s point of view and now you wonder how to approach the subject. Believe me, it comes up early!

WOW Donna, this is SO very timely for me!! 🙂
We are discussing this very thing in our upcoming MOPS group on Friday. We were asked to bring any helpful materials to share with one another and now I’m so excited to share this.
Thanks!

Thanks for telling me, Heidi. You can’t beat the price! And the fact you can share it in your church for up to 1,000 people.
You could even do postings on what you ladies come up with!
What a great idea to share this with MOPS! I remember a sleepover at church where the topic was sex ed from a Christian perspective. After teaching k-12 for 9 years and seeing quite recently what the middle schoolers are up to (SHOCKING! I learned things from them that as a married woman I had no idea existed), I certainly don’t want my children learning from society!
I hear you on that, Audra! I’m getting word back about ‘what goes on’ that I never would have dreamed possible for tweens and teens. I guess you can’t even call a 9-10 year old a tween.
Parents have abandoned their positive effect on their children’s foundation for purity and marriage for years. I’m happy to hear so many of the young mothers are talking with their children from early on up.
The MOPs groups is a fantastic place to have this discussion and make the PDF available. I wonder if MomSense magazine has written any articles that would be helpful. It would be worth sending word back to MOPs headquarters that this is what your group is interested in.
Society’s morals keep changing. The only place to find stability to chart your course is the Word of God.

Hello, Beatrice! There are a lot of women looking for this subject matter. We all appreciate your newsletter making the effort to pull all of it together and make it available for such a fantastic price. As you can see, it sparked definite interest!
I’m glad you commented and left the link. I’ll add it here again kyria.com/topics/marriagefamily/parenting/ . The article that introduces the offer is written by Marian Liautaud and can be found by clicking on this link.
..If you rely on strangers and their peers to teach your kids about sexuality they lose out on learning from the person they most want and need to hear from – YOU! Worse yet they don t get the information you want them to have about your values and related topics like love and healthy relationships…..And when you are open to talking about sex this can lead to talking about many other parts of their lives..
Agreed!
