Pastor John Osteen Always Quoted..Great It Is to Dream

A friend just encouraged me today with those words. 

Fighting life through…is it inconsistent with what the Word of God describes as “coming into the rest“?

Why is it we read one thing in the Word of God about “Fight the good fight” and the next thing we read is “My peace I give you.  Not the world’s peace..?”  Wouldn’t a fight take away your peace, especially if we’re told to “be kind and tenderhearted to one another?”

The Word is not contradictory.  We have peace because Jesus said, “My peace I give you.”  Yet we will “fight the good fight of faith.”  We will “and having done all to stand, stand therefore..” and we will ‘have the weapons of our warfare ready’.  We do “trust in the Lord with all of our might, and lean not to our own understanding.” …and we are also told to “not let ourselves be troubled”.

When we take the time to understand the things of God, we find that we still have fights in this life…but they are fights with the enemy in the spiritual realm. “We wrestle not with flesh and blood, but against the powers and principalities in heavenly places.”  That’s where we take up the fight… the good fight.  It’s a good fight and we have peace in that fight because Jesus has already won the victory for us.  Everything we need has already been provided.  We’re told in the Word of God to ‘rest in His promises’ and receive the answers…all by faith. 

When we ‘stand’,  it’s only because we believe we received the answer when we prayed.  We’ve spoken to the ‘mountain of a problem’, and it has been removed in the spiritual realm.  Then we’re thanking God for our answer because He is Faithful.  “And having done all to stand, stand therefore….”

“Great it is to dream the dream when you stand in youth by the starry stream, but a greater thing is to fight life through and say in the end…..THE DREAM WAS TRUE!”
