Street GRACE for Exploited Children

If You Think You Spot a Victim Call

(404) 602-0068  or (888) 373-7888

Okay, I hit you pretty hard with the “Human Trafficking…Child Slaves” posting.  I know, we all want to look away and not ‘see‘ what is happening.  The only way anything changes is if we are aware of it needing to change.  So, one more time, we are going to look at the successful way an organization in the US is dealing with child sex trafficking.

Yes, there is an organization and a church that is working together on their city with 5 ways to ending child sex trafficking.  Street GRACE..don’t you love that name?  Here’s their bio:

Street GRACE: Help End Childhood Sexual Exploitation

In their own words:  “Street GRACE is a non-denominational alliance of churches, community partners, and volunteers dedicated to supporting, enlarging, and allying with those individuals and organizations working toward eliminating the commercial sexual exploitation of children (CSEC). Street GRACE mobilizes the resources within the community — financial, human and material — toward those organizations and individuals who have demonstrated effectiveness in battling CSEC in the areas of advocacy, aftercare and mentoring.”

Our ultimate goal is the elimination of this problem in the city of Atlanta (Georgia) and duplication of these efforts in other cities across the United States.

This part is important:  “….duplication of these efforts in other cities across the United States.”  Is your city ready for a change?  Are you even aware that a change is needed in your city?

Report on Exploited Children by Dan Rather

Portland, Oregon is now being called Pornland, Oregon.  In a well researched report by Dan Rather he states, “To pick just one example among many, Portland, Oregon is without doubt one of the nation’s treasures. It has been voted one of the best places to live and work. But according to police, the city and its outlying communities has become a hub for the sexual exploitation of children. In a recent nationwide sting by Federal, state and local law enforcement agencies, Portland ranked second in the country for the number of rescued child prostitutes. And according to Doug Justus, the workhorse sergeant in charge of Portland’s tiny Vice Detail, many of the children caught up in this are middle class kids from the area.”

It has been noted that Craigslist, along with other Internet sites, are major factors in the spread of child prostitution.  Hard to know about the real numbers. The most conservative estimates are that at least 100,000 American children are being victimized. Many experts say they believe it’s closer to 300,000 or more.

I promised you 5 ways toward ending child sex trafficking.  Street Grace lists them as:

ONE..Awareness

If you aren’t aware, you never come to a desire to change or see change take place.  “Street GRACE partners with leaders in the community to create and drive an “outcry” campaign that will inform and educate broad audiences across metro-Atlanta and elsewhere. Currently, our goal is to strengthen legislation around the commercial sexual exploitation of children and to raise awareness about this issue among at least 1,000,000 people in the metro-Atlanta area.”

TWO…..Prayer

God is a good God and His grace is toward all mankind.  We use our faith through prayer to receive His goodness…His grace.  Join with the members of the faith community who state:  “Everyday, members of the faith community are praying for the children victimized by sex trafficking. Street GRACE works with the faith community to pray for the breakdown of the systematic exploitation of children, the rescue and restoration of victims, the protection of potential victims, the redemption of pimps, traffickers and customers, and our policy makers to pass effective legislation to ultimately eradicate child sex trafficking.

We also pray for God’s guidance, wisdom and spirit of perseverance to rest on those who are engaged in this issue.

Prayer is the foundation of all we do as a faith community and as advocates for this issue. Please join us and support our efforts with your prayers.”

Please come back for an ‘awakening’.  Are you thinking of the children?  “When men and women of faith pray…. ”

Thanks, Amy. The Street GRACE website is http://www.streetgrace.org.

Check out their programs that reach the children. Those numbers of 495 adolescent girls victimized on a MONTHLY basis…in Georgia alone… are mind blowing.

Remember there will be three more ways you can participate, helping the children in sex slave trafficking, next posting.
