Have you ever wanted to read a Christian Regency novel; one with exacting details of the period, dress, customs, traditions? Yes, but there are none on the market? Today I’m reviewing a Christian Regency novel in the genre of Jane Austen, The Country House Courtship, by author Linore Rose Burkard.
Not too long into the book I found that I began to care about the people, their lives and their faith in God. Their love for the Lord was realistically interspersed throughout the dialogue without being ‘overly spiritualized’. You could identify with the characters needs, love, desire, pain and love of God’s Word. Towards the end I could not stop thinking about their lives in perilous times. I wanted to hurry to the outcome, but was sad to let them go in my life at the end…. (at least until the next novel is introduced!). A description of the novel to peak your interest:
The Country House Courtship
England, 1818: It has been five years since Ariana Forsythe married The Paragon, Mr. Phillip Mornay. Now, Ariana’s sister, Miss Beatrice Forsythe, is seventeen and determined to marry advantageously as well. (Surely Ariana’s society connexions all but guarantee Beatrice’s success-especially if Mr. Mornay is created a baronet by the Prince Regent!

Sounds like a book I'd enjoy reading–maybe I could really enjoy a good love story without a lot of explicit sex that seems to be in way too many books lately.
