Chad Hedrick Takes Bronze and Grace of God!
“I JUST watched him get a bronze medal and i saw him just b4 he started bring out his cross and point toward the Creator and i just smiled and cheered him on even though i live in Canada. I was so happy for him!”
Christianity crosses all races, denominations and countries. The comment above was left under the YouTube video presented on this blog. If you watched the video you’ll see an interview with Chad Hedrick, the US Speedskater in the 2010 Olympics who took the bronze for the 1000 m.
Chad spoke in the interview about ‘being a Christian and saying you’re a Christian is two different things’. His past lifestyle was hard skating and hard living. There will be many people from his past who will watch him to see if he’s just a player, playin’ everyone with his ‘Jesus’ conversion. Chad admits he’s not the person he used to be. His goal is to inspire people to put their faith in God and that anything is possible. No matter what your past is, we do have a forgiving God!
Hedrick talks about he and his wife having a recent miscarriage and “without Christ in the last year my life would be going in a lot different directions. Life without Jesus is tough. “We’ve been through some tough situations in the last year, but we leaned on Christ to find reason…. “
“I’m not a guy who’s been a follower (of Christ) forever, but I feel like I’ve always got Somebody to lean on when times are tough. When times are tough, you can lean on God and it’s a little bit easier because of Him…that’s special right there.”
He was asked how people could pray for him. He responded, “More than anything, pray that people who were like me before, see God in me and make the turn…make the change and do something special in their life”.
People really are watching after such a public declaration from you on the podium, receiving the bronze medal, Chad. We’re so glad you’re in the Body of Christ and you are letting your light so shine during the Olympics!
Do you believe that ‘hard living people’ can really make a change when they ask Jesus into their life? Should we forgive people who may have hurt others in their lives before coming to Christ?
