"Not Your Ordinary Comment on a Blog"

The Flight of Orville Wright Caterpillar
is the first book in a series of 3 ‘Orville’ books

Been Working on Re-issuing Donna Perugini Books!

I’ve been working toward my children’s books being re-issued

What does re-issue mean?  The first book , The Flight of Orville Wright Caterpillar was originally published by Harrison House, Tulsa, OK  in 1983.  They’re being brought back into print by me under my name, Donna Perugini Books
I knew there were children out there that read The Flight of Orville Wright Caterpillar over 25 years ago that were growing up and having children of their own.  Over those years, people sent emails, letters and made phone calls to let me know what the books had meant to them.  This is one in ‘comment’ form on this blog:

 “Birth of a First Book!

DONNA,

Orville even dreamed about flying!
www.DonnaPerugini.com

MY MOM GAVE ME THIS BOOK WHEN I WAS TOO YOUNG TO READ. WE READ IT EVERY NIGHT AND I KEPT IT TILL I HAD TO MOVE AT 16, LEAVING IT BEHIND =(. I THOUGHT ABOUT THE BOOK TOO MANY TIMES TO COUNT THROUGHOUT MY TEENAGE YEARS, AND EARLY 20’S! LAST YEAR I TOLD MY MOM ABOUT THE TIMES I WOULD THINK ABOUT ORVILLE AND HOW THE STORY REMINDED ME TO KEEP DREAMING (GOD’S DREAM!) DURING THE DIFFICULT TIMES – YOU KNOW, THE DREAM GOD HAS PUT IN EACH ONE OF US TO BE WHAT HE HAS PLANNED US TO BE. I CAN’T WAIT TO GET MY HANDS BACK ON THIS BOOK!!

BTW, I AM LIVING GOD’S DREAM FOR MY LIFE! THANK YOU FOR WRITING THIS TOUCHING, INSPIRING, SWEET STORY!
BLESSINGS!

What Are You Building into Your Child’s Life?

The book she is referring to is The Flight of Orville Wright Caterpillar.  Upon searching Sarah’s Google profile, she writes that she is now a Pastor’s wife.  I am so blessed that my children’s book was a part of her life’s foundation as a child.

When I wrote my books, my intention was to teach children portions of the Word of God that would address stages in their life….being Born Again, Friendship, Conquering the What Ifs, Prayer, and Forgiveness.  I wanted to build into their spirit, truths that they could recall and walk in.  Sarah let me know it had done just that in her life.  What a blessing to be able to see that in my lifetime!  Thank you, Sarah!

This might be the week my Author Website is complete!  Purchases for all the books can be made at www.DonnaPerugini.com (Author Website) or through Amazon on my blog Donna’s Children’s Book Store, Barnes and Noble, Christian bookstores and Independent bookstores.

What a wonderful compliment! That's so touching. Now I wish that I would've had this book growing up too 🙁 What we read to our children is so important. They never forget it. It's awesome that there are good books with a great Biblical message to lay a foundation in their lives. Thanks for everything you do, Donna!

I agree with you. We have so many things coming at us when our children our young. Sometimes our eyes are on the destination (getting them grown up) rather than the journey (laying a sure foundation in their lives).

Thanks for stopping by and leaving your thoughtful comment.

Of COURSE the books can come back after 25 years! I can't wait to introduce these books to Buggy! It's hard to find really good books for little ones anymore.

    Audra,
I didn't even know it was an 'issue' being 25 years old until after I started this journey of getting the books re-issued. When I read about 25 years being a problem, all I could do was keep on going!
How exciting that Buggy is 'the next generation' to read the Orville books.

    Hi Donna:
My name is Lance Okones. My first children's book had to be cut from my former publishers list and now the illustrator, Chris Trefz, and myself are self-publishing the book 'The Realoscope of Ringgold Valley' which is the first book in the Realoscope series. Anyway, I just wanted to introduce myself. Your book is very colorful and looks like a good story. Where could I pick up a copy to read to my grand-kids?
    Thank you,
    Lance Okones

My books can be purchased through Amazon,Barnes and Noble, Christian bookstsores and independent bookstores. When my Author's Website is finally up, the books can purchased through it also.

Have you started an Author Platform yet? I'd love to encourage you along the way. Keep in touch!

I absolutely love the art work on your covers. Huge congrats to you on your notice. Maybe I will get a great, great, grandbaby someday I can share your books with. Very nice work.

    Donna Perugini says:

    Abuzz Antiques,
The girl who did the art work, Nancy Titolo Bishop, is fantastic as an illustrator. She made me want to pick up all the little butterflies and ant and kiss them. The illustrations are consistently beautiful all through the books.

A great-great grandbaby puts you in a very honored posititon! I thought being a grandmother was exceptional, but you will have that beat with 'great-great'!

Be sure to download the music with illustrations by Subscribing by Email. You'll see all the illustrations and hear the music written for the books.

Just came across your work, and I am so in love! When I was little, my grandma signed me up for a book-a-month club, and ever since then I've had a special place in my heart for well-done children's books. Keep up the lovely work!

What a fabulous Grandmother you have! To think something that simple could make such an impact on a child.

Thanks for the compliments on my work…it's an honor you chose to fall in love with the books.

I definitely think a book can come back after 25 years. I think that books NEED to come back.

  23. 23
    Donna Perugini says:

    Kelly,
I'd read the 25 year rule in a literary agent's blog. I think they can come back too.

I agree, there are books I'd even like to see put into leather bound editions, like The Chronicles of Narnia. I've been waiting for that for years.
