Super Bowl 2011 and Child Sex Trafficking
The Super Bowl has a Dark Side?
What could be ‘dark’ about the Packers and the Steelers in a game…in Dallas, Texas?
The Super Bowl is a chance for pimps to show off and rent their property..12 year olds are amongst them. We think of child sex trafficking as associated with other countries, surely not the United States.
The 2010 Super Bowl was held in Miami Beach, where they had an upsurge in young girls on the streets. It was reported that four times as many if not more of young women were on the streets, brought there by their pimps.
Where the girls are found, hooked and then advertised
There are two online message boards that you should be aware of: Backpage.com and Craigslist shows ads for escorts. Pimps look for the girls in the malls, Facebook and MySpace, targeting the ones who can be sucked in. They buy them shoes, purses and jewelry, then tell them they need help from the girls to make money back for everything they spent on them. That little girl is then sent to the strip club to dance for men her father’s and grandfather’s age. It’s a trap and getting out is nearly impossible.
Is Super Bowl evil? No, it’s just another large event that draws the pimps and human trafficking child slave rings to town looking to profit. It’s estimated that a young girl can make upwards of$1,000 in one night. She’ll never get to use any of it as her pimp pockets it all and sends her out again.
What am I supposed to do about it?
Look for the organizations that are in your area to support however you can. A great example is Street Grace for Exploited Children.
Look for organizations in Texas
Can you pray? Don’t stop there; some places need clothing, others food and money and volunteers are always welcome. This Sunday is Super Bowl 2011 in Dallas, Texas. Start finding out how you can help now. It’s just a few days before the game but there is still time.
More suggestions from ECPAT End Child Prostitution and Trafficking USA:
- Visit The Body Shop USA location near you and purchase Soft Hands Kind Heart Hand Cream. The Body Shop will donate a portion of each purchase to ECPAT. Think about using the hand cream and print out material explaining ECPAT as a gift for Teacher’s Day, friend’s birthdays, or as a Valentine’s Day gift.
- Find your local politician and ask him or her to take action to protect children and young people from trafficking.
- Educate yourself and tell your friends. The more people who understand the issue, the more hands will be joined in ending trafficking. The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services also has information in the Rescue and Restore Campaign
This is a hard-hitting posting with a call to action. Don’t just stand by doing nothing. Get involved.

Post bookmarked and shared on facebook, I’ll post my feedback on my blog as well
Thanks for spreading the word, Hosea! Child sex trafficking can be stopped…maybe ‘dented’ at first, but eventually stopped.
Oh wow – I never would have thought of this side of the superbowl! We bleed black and gold around here. Now I know what I’ll be doing during the game rather than just cheering my steelers on – I’ll be praying and tweeting out this message.
Rock on, Audra! The ferverent, effectual prayers of a righteous man (woman) avails much! Thanks for ‘stirring it up’!
Wow…I had no idea. Whatever happened to innocence in America?? What a shame. Thanks for posting this Donna!
Hey, Kerri!
Child sex trafficking needs to be brought out into the daylight. Pimps can’t ‘make good money’ if people in the US begin to stand up and cry out. Thanks for standing up, Kerri!

This has really helped me out and I think I will be back soon. I found this blog on Yahoo.
These sensitive issues should be taken seriously.
Thanks for the insightful post regarding this issue – some of the things you have mentioned I was never aware of before.
