ToughTimes, Bad Experiences…Be Encouraged
You wonder, “Will this ever end?, or Will we ever get over this.” Consider what happened in these lives and what their outcome was:
Walt Disney was fired by a news editor who stated, “He lacks imagination and has no good ideas.” Walt even went bankrupt several times before building Disneyland.
Thomas Edison…teachers declared him too stupid to learn anything. He was fired from his first two jobs. He made over 1,000 attempts to invent the light bulb which he said “The light bulb is an invention with 1,000 steps.”
Albert Einstein didn’t speak until age 4 and didn’t read until age 7. His teacher had this unflattering comment about him, “Mentally slow, unsociable, and adrift in foolish dreams.” Then he was kicked out of the school.
Think about this…if you quit now, you’ll never know what was just around that bend. You may be giving up just at the point of receiving what you’ve been fighting for.
It reminds me of myself when I get directions to a place I’ve never been. I’m anxious to get there and having never been there before, I don’t know any landmarks. I’m second guessing myself and turn around only to discover I’ve stopped short. If I had gone past the ‘worry’ about missing my destination, I would have arrived on time.
Don’t give up!
Leave a comment to encourage the readers…especially if you’ve made it through tough times. Raise their expectations…they need hope!
I find that the best thing is not to give up hope. Even if you are confronted by negativity from others. Plough ahead with whatever you feel passionate about and even if you fail, keep trying. At least you have tried and the odds are if you keep at it, you will have some measure of success anyway. Also, allowing and accepting (which I have learned to do mainly through yoga)seems to compel things to happen! Rather than resisting and fighting against things, do your best and then allow what is going to happen to happen and then accept it and get on with the next thing. Hope this makes sense!

Claire,
Thanks for leaving your encouraging thoughts for the readers!
This is great! As usual, you’ve taught me something I didn’t know. I had no clue that these three men went through such tough times. But it just goes to show that perseverance and hard work, which includes chasing your dreams, can pay off in the end. Very inspirational!

Hi, Lindy!
Everytime I think about the others who have gone before us and what they went through, I’m amazed. Sometimes all we see are the success stories that look instant and non-problematic. We don’t know about second-guessing they may have experienced, or financial crisis where they failed. The one thing they all had in common was hope and a belief that they would accomplish what they set out to do.
thanks for sharing the inspirational stories, Donna. My own sweet mama had a similar experience. While in college studying education she had a professor that told her she had no business trying to become a teacher (the nerve!)
she went on to open her own preschool run out of our home (when i was of age to begin)
her school has been running ever since and her school is known to be one of the best quality schools in her county. parents will send their kids to her school even though they live several miles away and she always has a waiting list.
You come from excellence, Heidi! What a mom!
Thank you so much for your kind words about the loss of my Bridger. I also really appreciate this post, as I’ve been feeling really edgy and discouraged about the agent search lately. Nice words of inspiration!
Your time will come for the agent, Lisa. You’re just feeling pressure about something you have no real control over.
Besides, you don’t want to be saddled with the wrong agent! That could be a nightmare!
You’re an excellent writer and that alone will bring you before the right agents. You’ve heard it before…it’s a business and they have to make money too. So whatever is selling, that’s what gets picked up.
Have you started another book while you wait to hear back from agents? Think about making one of your books into an ebook to stir interest and start a following. Put that discouragement into energy for marketing before you’re picked up.

I remember watching a directory on John Lasseter (director for Toy Story on Cars). He was originally fired from Disney after doing the Brave Little Toaster. Later, he was recruited by Pixar and came forth with some of the greatest stuff in animation!
From working on an animated toaster to Pixar is quite a promotion (not a firing). Pixar is top of the line! It was probably the best move in a job he ever had.
It’s good to find where you belong!

I meant documentary, not directory 😉
This is something amazing and inspires me a lot. I don’t know that these three men went through such tough times. In life we have to admit and know different things and just show the world with top perseverance, determination and hardworks. Just follow excellence and success will chase you.
