How the Review Went on Do Angels Go Camping

Do Angels Go Camping by Donna Perugini

Introducing the adventurous little Antrew Ant

The reviewer had a concern

My children’s book, Do Angels Go Camping?,  had insightful  comments under the heading ‘What I disliked’   It’s something you see as an author and wonder what you’ll read next.

Please do read the review and note that it was tagged with a ‘recommend’!  Her concerns were about the ‘ant’ parents of the little stowaway, Antrew Ant missing and their not being able to locate him.  The reviewers comments were thoughtful and appropriate…something I could think about for future reference.

A little about Do Angels Go Camping?

Antrew Ant became a stowaway after being told he could not go camping with Orville and Amelia.  After arriving at the camp site, Orville was ready to take Antrew Ant back until he turned around and the adventurous little guy (Antrew Ant) was off exploring again.

When you’re reading Do Angels Go Camping to your child, it would be a good time to ask them what they think about Antrew Ant wandering away.  Talk about how you feel when your child wanders away and you can’t find them.  Tell them about their Guardian Angel and how prayer, simply talking to God, would help them if they ever became lost.

The book is ready for Christmas shoppers!

The reviewer decided the book overall was good and dealt with teaching a child about angels which is often a tough subject.  Horray!  Not all book reviews turn out so well.  The book has been previously discounted from $9.99 to $7.99 at the Author Website BookStore www.DonnaPerugini.com or Amazon.com

The review ended on a good note and Do Angels Go Camping was recommended. I invite you to read her review and post a comment on their blog, Christian Children’s Book Review   I’m the one who sent them my books requesting a reveiw with no guarantees that any of my books would be liked or recommended by the reviewers…all moms of little  children.   Thanks, Beverly.

    Hi Donna,

I always enjoy a good, candid book review, so I’m glad yours turned out to be a positive, learning experience!

      Hi, Linda!
I had to give points on her reference to little Antrew Ant’s parents. I’m sure parents everywhere are concerned when their little ones are missing because they wandered off somewhere. I was actually very pleased with the review as the reviewer zeroed in on what I was trying to get across to the reader. She left my book with a lot of good things pointed out in her review.

The concern she had could be answered by the parent reading the book to the child, asking questions about Antrew Ant and then letting their child know how they feel about ‘wandering off’ and ‘not letting the parent know where you are at all times’. My hope is that parents take every opportunity to teach their children while reading books with them.

Thanks for your thoughts on this!

Congratulations on a “recommended” book review! 🙂 I am thankful for you dropping by my blog and leaving some comment love! Your wise words are always so encouraging to me. Thank you! 🙂 And, I agree the word “serpent” or “snake” does cause one to get tripped up on that scripture. 🙂 Wishing you the best. P.S. Are you on Google+ ?

I’m not on Google+. Not sure if it’s for me.
Thanks for your congratulations! And as always, I’m glad to stop by your blog. I would have commented sooner but for all the teaching I’ve been doing lately at our church.
The phrase ‘harmless as a dove’ is easily understood by a Christian. I’ve never seen a dove be anything but harmless! Sheep…harmless. Wolves…well, we know what they’re up to! But to put it in a sentence, “…wolves in sheep’s clothing’…that definitely draws a vivid picture!

The camp offered through the Baptist Assembly looks like a great place to send kids for camp. I suspect you came upon this post due to the word, ‘camping’, to which I can reply, “Yes, angels DO go camping!”

A great theme to write about as so many children go to school and church camps. The illustrations are fun, too. I hope the Stowaway doesn’t give any of the readers ideas!
