Posting Cell Photos? You Can Be Located!
Did you know that your photos taken on your cell can be tracked by others if you post them online? They know when you took them, where you took them and how to find you. If you or your child (what child hasn’t) have been taking photos on your Smartphone, iPhone, Blackberry, Palm or Android and posting online, this piece of info is for you.
This is unknown to many internet crime experts even though it is the same technology that enables 4-Square and hand held map apps.
A website has been set up called, “I Can Stalk You”, where you can find a photo tutorial to deactivate the feature that’s letting out your private info.
A faster way is follow this:
Go to Settings where your GPS is controlled
Go to Location Services and turn it off. (This also turns off your maps, etc.) or instead
Under Location Services, click off for your camera
Watch the video to completely understand the seriousness of using your cell phone for photos and posting them online.
Remember to change settings in your phone, your children’s phones, and their grandparent’s phones too!
Leave comments so we can learn from you….share this and alert your friends too!
Yikes. Thanks for the heads up! And, thanks for dropping my blog and leaving a message.
